What is Battle of the Books?
* Students in Grades 5 to 8 form teams of no more than 4 students
* Each team member is responsible for reading at least 2 of the eight pre-selected titles
* We read, discuss the books . . . and then . . . we BATTLE! We battle agains our own school teams first, then
against other schools in our zone, and finally in the City Finals
* Questions are asked in the format, "In which book . . . "
* Teams must discuss the question, agree on an answer, then write the title and author's name on a
whiteboard.
* Points are awarded for the right answer, if spelled correctly!
* Teams earn 3 points for the correct title
* Teams earn 1 point for the correct Author
* Capitalization and Punctuation count!!!

2017-2018 * El Deafo by Cece Bell: In this graphic-novel memoir, author/illustrator Cece Bell chronicles her hearing loss at a young age and her experiences with the Phonic Ear, a very powerful and very awkward hearing aid. * Kid Owner by Tim Green: When Ryan learns his estranged father left him the Dallas Cowboys in his will, it is all Ryan can do to keep his dad's other son from snatching the team away. [BL 5.0; MG; 325 p.]
